Specialty Testing



These programs are designed to meet the laboratory’s External Quality Assessment needs in other than the traditional proficiency testing.  These are not reported to CMS.



6 challenges, 2 events per year

Liquid serum samples for the certification of Total Cholesterol by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) based on the National Cholesterol Education Program (NCEP) recommendation for traceability to the National Reference Systems for Cholesterol (NRS/CHOL). Test results are evaluated by Northwest Lipids Research Laboratories (NWLRL).

Six liquid samples for duplicate testing over 3 consecutive days.  

Certification is valid for 6 months.  Samples ship the last week of April and the last week of October.

3 challenges per testing event

Liquid serum or serum and urine samples for assessing creatinine imprecision and accuracy against IDMS certified samples. Also, includes the assessment of accuracy in reporting eGFR using the equation utilized. A certificate of compliance will be issued to those meeting the requirements. Samples ship with Specialty events.



2 challenges per testing event

This program is WB Glucose testing on multiple glucometers at a facility or institutions.

This program allows the participant to challenge up to 20 operators and/or glucometers for testing accuracy.

This is an externally graded program, but for internal use only. Samples ship with Chemistry events.
